I received this Ava Anderson Lemon Sugar Body Scrub in an event gift bag in December (!) and am just now trying it out for review.
The ingredients are excellent: Sucrose (Organic Cane Sugar), Butyrospermum Parkii (Organic Shea) Butter, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Oryza Sativa (Organic Rice Bran) Oil CocosbNucifera (Organic Coconut) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (lemon) Peel Oil, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Seed Extract
It smells exactly what its name implies: lemon and sugar. The only scent comes from the lemon peel oil so it smells light and fresh. Once you rinse it off, it is even lighter so I think even men would be ok with this.
It also looks exactly like what it is: sugar and oils. As you can see, it’s not goopy-oily at all. Very easy to scoop and scrub.
It didn’t leave my skin excessively oily but it was well moisturized enough to last through about 2 hand washings. The exfoliant is just granulated sugar, and I found that to be kind of rough on the skin even when I was only using it on my hands, so scrub gently. The full retail price is $17 for a 5.5 oz scrub which is on pair with a high end scrub, and considering the number of organic ingredients, I’d say it’s a fair price. On the other hand, if you only have sugar and coconut oil in your kitchen, you can make yourself a quick substitute. I’m really digging the high quality, chemical free products from this line.
